Optomap
At Eyesentials we have always invested in the very latest technology to help us identify sight threatening conditions as early as possible.
In 2004 we got a retinal camera allowing us to view photographs of the retina in great detail. Optical technology continues to move forward and in 2011 we got our first retinal scanner (OCT) and 2021 we have the addition of Optomap®.
What are the
benefits of Optomap?
Optomap® is an ultra-wide scan of the back of your eye, which allows us to view up to 82% of your retina,
compared to 15% of your retina seen with more traditional technology.
-
A simple, non-invasive procedure
-
A quick way to capture a very detailed colour image of your retina (takes less than a second!)
-
Enables us to see much more of your retina, measure aspects of your eye, and zoom in to see some of the finer details at various layers of your retina
-
An effective way to track changes in your eyes over time
-
Allows you to take a more active role in your eyecare by reviewing the images with your optometrist and learning more about how best to protect your vision.
Your eyes are precious and we want to ensure your eyesight will last a life time.
We recommend our new advanced eye examination, which includes Optomap® for every patient.
Optomap® is a standard as part of our Private eye examination costing £50. NHS basic eye examination entitlement upgrade £25 to include Optomap®.
